Agenda & Speakers

Wednesday, October 14 at 12:00 p.m. - 12:20 p.m ET
Despite the work done to mitigate risks to operative patients, there continue to be incidents, with about 14% of surgical patients in hospital settings experiencing at least one adverse event. Related events include unintentionally retained surgical items, wrong site surgery, and contamination of surgical instruments. During a session titled Strategies for Surgical Patient Safety, we will discuss the findings from three categories from our “Deep Dive” into patient safety issues related to surgery and provide high level strategies to mitigate the risks associated with them.

Presenter:
Gail Horvath, MSN, RN, CNOR, CRCST, Senior Patient Safety Analyst and Consultant IV
