Flu Prevention Starts at Work: Most Vaccinated Healthcare Personnel Get Vaccines in the Workplace

​Influenza vaccination coverage among healthcare providers during the 2016–2017 flu season was 78.6%, which is similar to coverage rates during the previous three seasons, according to a September 29, 2017, Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The highest rates of vaccination coverage were associated with an employer vaccination requirement (96.7% vaccination coverage) and at employers offering free, on-site vaccinations for longer than one day (80.3%). Facilities that had the lowest vaccination coverage tended to be those least likely to require vaccination or provide free vaccinations (vaccination coverage was 45.8% in these facilities).
