Jury Awards $31M for Botched Circumcision, Failure to Send Infant to Emergency Department

​A Clayton County (Georgia) jury awarded roughly $31 million for a disfiguring injury that an infant sustained during a circumcision, states a September 21, 2018, article in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The defendant nurse midwife performing the procedure allegedly severed the tip of the 18-day-old child's penis. A defendant physician called the clinic's owner and the child's pediatrician to alert them to the situation. Both the clinic owner and the pediatrician said they were "not made aware of the full extent of the injury."
