ASCO Guidance on Managing Chronic Pain in Cancer Survivors

​The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) issued guidelines on managing chronic pain in adult cancer survivors. An ASCO-convened expert panel conducted a systematic literature review of studies on chronic pain management in cancer survivors and identified 63 studies on which they based the guidelines. The guidelines include screening for pain at each encounter and using systemic nonopioid analgesics and adjuvant analgesics to manage chronic pain and improve function.
