Advisory Committee Recommends New HPV Test

​A federal advisory committee to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has unanimously recommended that a new test for human papillomavirus (HPV) should be approved for use as a primary screening tool for women age 30 or older, states a March 12, 2014, New York Timesarticle. If the agency agrees with the panel's recommendation, the test would be indicated as an option, not a replacement, for the Pap cervical cancer screening test, the article says.
