AHRQ Introduces Four Strategies Focused on Patient and Family Engagement in Primary Care
February 20, 2017 | Strategic Insights for Ambulatory Care
The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) has announced the Guide to Improving Patient Safety in Primary Care Settings by Engaging Patients and Families. The guide will present four strategies to promote stronger communication and partnership among patients, families, and healthcare professionals. AHRQ encourages physician practices to use the guide as a tool to adopt evidence-based best practices for health literacy and education, engagement, medication management, and transfers of care between clinicians. Each of these strategies includes materials for staff and patients, ranging from posters and handouts to learning modules and "quick start" guides.
