The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is warning patients and clinicians who use at-home or in-office devices for measuring warfarin levels that some test strips may be inaccurate and should not be used to adjust dosages of the medication, according to a February 1, 2019, FDA news release. FDA says that patients and providers who are using CoaguChek meters should immediately stop using test strips purchased from Terrific Care/Medex Supply and use an alternative method instead. In December 2018, Terrific Care/Medex Supply voluntarily recalled certain Roche Diagnostics test strip lots used with the CoaguChek meter.
