FDA Cites Insufficient Evidence to Recommend for or against OTC Pain Medicine during Pregnancy

​Responding to concerns about recent reports that question the safety of using prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) pain medicines during pregnancy, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has evaluated the evidence in the medical literature and concluded that the available data is too limited to issue a recommendation at this time. Because of this uncertainty, FDA states that pain medicines should be used cautiously during pregnancy.
