The January 3, 2018, issue of the Federal Register includes the final rule on the confidentiality of records of patients with substance use disorder from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' (HHS) Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The final rule updates regulation 42 CFR Part 2, which is aimed at protecting the confidentiality of patients with substance use disorder while supporting payment and healthcare-operations activities.
