CMS Adds New Individual Provider Data to Physician Compare Website

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has added new quality data for 2014 to the Physician Compare website. Intended to help consumers make informed decisions about their care, the website now includes performance scores for more than 40,000 individual clinicians who reported as part of Medicare's Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) on preventive care, cardiovascular care, and patient safety measures. The American Medical Association (AMA) expressed its disapproval of the additions in a December 10, 2015, AMA press release.
