Device manufacturer Philips has begun testing the Google Glass platform, a wearable computer with an optical head-mounted display, for use in hospital operating rooms (ORs), states an October 3, 2013, Forbes article. The company, which the article notes holds about half of the worldwide market for patient monitoring equipment, is testing the device’s ability to record and monitor patient vital signs during surgery.
