OSHA Issues Enforcement Instructions for Transition to Revised Hazard Communication Standard

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has issued a July 9, 2015, directive to its compliance safety and health officers providing instructions on how to consistently enforce the revised hazard communication standard during its phased-in implementation, states a July 20, 2015, OSHA news release. Revised in March 2012 to align with the United Nations Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals, the hazard communication standard includes an updated hazard classification of chemicals, standardized label elements for containers of hazardous chemicals, and requirements for the format and content of safety data sheets.
