Prison Healthcare Service Provider Enters Workplace Violence Reduction Settlement Agreement

A company that provides medical, dental, and mental health services to inmates at correctional facilities nationwide has agreed to pay a fine of $38,000 and implement changes to reduce workplace violence hazards for its employees, states a July 1, 2015, press release from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). According to the press release, the decision is part of a settlement agreement with the U.S. Department of Labor resolving an August 2014 OSHA citation that the company received for failing to develop and implement an effective program to prevent workplace violence for its employees working at Rikers Island (New York City).
