OIG Semiannual Report Touts Healthcare Fraud Recoveries and More

​In its semiannual report to Congress, the Department of Health and Human Services' Office of Inspector General (OIG) says that its accomplishments for the six-month period from October 1, 2016, to March 31, 2017, included recovering more than $2.04 billion in fraud, waste, and abuse using state-of-the-art investigative techniques and data analytics. As part of the Medicare Fraud Strike Force, OIG has teamed up with the Department of Justice and federal, state, and local law enforcement to combat healthcare fraud, the report says.
