CMS: Physicians No Longer Need to Re-document Notes from Medical Students

​The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has repealed a policy that prohibited providers from using notes from medical students as part of a patient's official record, CMS announced on February 2, 2018. Under the old policy, teaching physicians had to re-write any notes taken by a student during patient examinations. Under the new policy, which goes into effect on March 5, 2018, physicians need only to verify that the student's notes are accurate.
