CDC Update on Flu Activity: “Almost Everything We’re Looking at Is Bad News”

​​Influenza activity increased once again during the week ended February 3, 2018, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced in its weekly FluView report. Of people seeing their healthcare provider, 7.7% were visiting because of influenza-like illness, the highest proportion recorded since the 2009 pandemic. Ten more pediatric deaths associated with the flu occurred during the week, bringing the total of pediatric deaths to 63 for the flu season. CDC continues to recommend flu vaccinations for all people six months or older.
