Hospital Association Urges CMS To "Strike Appropriate Balance" In Updates to Medicaid, CHIP

In response to proposed changes to Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), the American Hospital Association has published a letter urging the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) "to strike the appropriate balance between federal standards and state flexibility to ensure Medicaid enrollees have timely access to quality care services," according to a January 14, 2019, letter written by an association administrator. Although overall, the association supports CMS efforts to modernize and update these programs, it expressed several concerns.
