Mutual Trust and Respect: HHS-Led Task Force Calls for Patient-Centered Approach to Pain Management

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)-led Pain Management Best Practices Inter-Agency Task Force issued a draft report on December 28, 2018, calling for individualized, patient-centered pain management programs. The draft report looks at several key gaps in pain management—such as a lack of education about pain medication and an underutilization of nonopioid therapies—and issues recommendations on how to close the gaps.
