Joint Commission Issues BoosterPak to Support High-Level Disinfection and Sterilization

​Noting that accredited organizations face frequent challenges with its infection control standard related to high-level disinfection and sterilization, the Joint Commission has issued a new BoosterPak in support of standard IC.02.02.01 and its elements of performance. Failure to adequately perform disinfection and sterilization can lead to infection control breaches that pose immediate threats to patient health—and, the agency says, could result in an adverse accreditation decision.
