- The AED 3 is used to analyze a patient's ECG and determine whether a defibrillation shock is warranted. If a shock is appropriate, the AED will charge to the preprogrammed energy level and prompt the user to deliver a shock.
- The AED 3 is intended for use by targeted responders (e.g., police officers, firefighters, security guards) who have received training in CPR and AED use. A related model, the AED 3 BLS, has more advanced features (such as ECG display) and may be more appropriate for use by medical professionals (e.g., nurses, emergency medical technicians EMTs) who have been trained in basic life support (BLS) or greater.
