  • The C-MAC is a cart-based video laryngoscope with reusable blades that is used to support intubation by providing a clear, unobstructed view of the airway and vocal cords.
  • The C-MAC consists of the following:

        • Brightness: 400 cd/m2
      • Has internal battery that will power the display for approximately 120 minutes
      • Connects to mains power via power supply and cable
      • Connects to laryngoscope blade via C-MAC Connection Cable either on side or on back of monitor
      • Weight: 1.25 kg (2.8 lb)
      • Size: 23.0 × 15.5 × 5.4 cm (9.1 × 6.1 × 2.1 in)

        • USB port for copying video clips and still images from an SD card on left side
      • Video monitor is reusable, has an ingress protection rating of IP54, and should be cleaned between patients.
      • The C-MAC video monitor is compatible with Karl Storz reusable laryngoscope blades (series 8403 and 8401) via the C-MAC Connection Cable, and with Karl Storz C-MAC S single-use laryngoscope blades via the C-MAC S Adult Imager and S Pediatric Imager.
    • Model 8403 reusable blades—The 8403 is the latest series of reusable blades; the table below lists the full complement of these blades.
      • The blades connect to the C-MAC monitor and contain the camera.
      • The MAC 3 and MAC 4 blades come in two versions, the AX and BX series and the AXC and BXC series. The AX and BX blades have a groove that allows users to insert Karl Storz's proprietary suction tubing to remove blood and secretions at the distal tip of the blade during intubation; the AXC and BXC blades do not have this groove. The D-BLADE also has this groove (and does not come in a non-grooved version). The other blades (MAC 0, MAC 2, and all of the Miller blades) do not have this groove.
