The American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and a few independent investment research firms estimate 350,000 to 515,000 people use insulin pumps in the United States. We expect 40% to 60% of these pump users (140,000 to 309,000) would use a bioartificial pancreas to actively manage blood glucose levels and insulin administration, if it was approved by FDA and was determined to be both safe and effective in the long term.
