CMPRP Aims to Improve Care, Outcomes for Nursing Home Residents

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has announced efforts to improve care and outcomes for nursing home residents through the Civil Money Penalty Reinvestment Program (CMPRP) and has released the first toolkit in the CMPRP series, Nursing Home Staff Competency Assessment. The three-year CMPRP initiative is intended to equip nursing home staff, administrators, and stakeholders with tools and other modes of assistance to enhance resident care; it is funded by civil monetary penalties levied against nursing homes. "CMS is committed to ensuring nursing home residents are safe and receive quality care," says CMS Administrator Seema Verma in a release.
