ALFA to Develop Credentialing Program, Professional Standards

​The Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA) plans to create a credentialing program for executive directors and a set of professional standards in the near future, reports a November 10, 2014, article in Long-Term Living. The organization will work with an outside organization to develop a set of qualifications and an examination for credentialing executive directors, who must also satisfy requirements regarding education level or experience. The credentialing program will be voluntary. After it has established the credentialing program for executive directors, ALFA may create credentialing programs in memory care, sales and marketing, or other areas. Further, a committee is developing professional standards that providers would have to meet in order to obtain or maintain membership.
