​The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology has published an updated guidebook on compliance with the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) privacy and security rules. The guidebook has been updated to take into account the 2013 HIPAA Omnibus final rule, which updated health information security and privacy requirements for covered entities and business associates, as well as the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services' Electronic Health Records Incentive Program, which carries its own privacy and security requirements.
