​Healthcare and social service workers are four times as likely as other professionals to be injured as a result of violence. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has released updated guidance addressing workplace violence for healthcare and social services workers. These guidelines are based on "industry best practices" and aim to lessen the risk of violence for these workers. They directly address five different workplace settings: hospitals, residential treatment settings such as nursing homes, nonresidential treatment/service settings, community care settings, and field work settings.
