Coronavirus: What We Know So Far

What's the news. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has released a list of frequently asked questions (FAQ) about the 2019 novel coronavirus, a new respiratory virus first identified in China. The FAQ describes the symptoms (mild to severe respiratory illness with fever, cough, and difficulty breathing); explains current understanding of how the virus spreads (not yet clear, but it may be through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes); and indicates what healthcare providers should do if they have a patient under investigation for the virus (immediately notify local or state health departments as well as infection control personnel at the facility).
