Overview

Join ECRI and the Institute for Safe Medication Practices PSO Virtual Safe Table on October 13, 2022, to learn about how teamwork and communication challenges influence patient safety culture. During this virtual Safe Table, safety experts will review a patient safety event that resulted from a communication failure and facilitate a discussion on creating a strategy that leverages the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality Surveys on Patient Safety Culture™ (SOPS®) assessment results to improve teamwork and communication.

Learning objectives

At the conclusion of the training, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize how communication failures adversely impact patient outcomes
  • Identify strategies to improve teamwork and communication
  • Assess how to use culture of safety survey results to develop action plans for patient safety culture improvements

Continuing education credit

For Nurses:
This activity has been approved for up to 1.0 California State Nursing contact hours by the provider, Debora Simmons, who is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number CEP 13677. Credit will only be issued to individuals that are individually registered and attend the entire program.

For Physicians:

ECRI is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

AMA Credit Designation Statement:
ECRI designates this live activity for a maximum of 1.00 AMA PRA Category 1 credits tm. Physicians should only claim the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

To qualify for credits:
Credit will only be issued to attendees that are individually registered and attend the entire program. Attendees will need to sign in and out for the day as evidence of attendance. In addition, you must complete an attestation survey evaluation at the conclusion of this activity. Once all that information is verified, a certificate will be e-mailed to you within 45 days of today’s activity.
