April 19, 2024

ECRI, an independent, nonprofit patient safety organization that provides technology solutions and evidence-based guidance to healthcare decision-makers, has named Darryl Goss its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Goss has nearly 30 years of experience in senior leadership positions at public and private equity firms in the healthcare, pharmaceutical, and chemical industries.

“Technology and data fuel ECRI’s mission to advance safe and effective healthcare globally,” said Marcus Schabacker, MD, PhD, President and CEO at ECRI. “We are at the forefront of creating data-informed solutions to some of the greatest challenges in healthcare. Our new CTO Darryl Goss will use his wealth of experience enhancing the performance of healthcare and tech companies to enrich our technological capabilities and our global impact.”

ECRI collects millions of data points from healthcare providers and industry partners to equip decision-makers with patient safety analytics, effective clinical practices, safety alerts, and benchmarking. These robust data sets help ECRI’s members improve the quality and equity of healthcare, manage complex healthcare costs, and build a more resilient supply chain.

“We continue to explore new ways to leverage ECRI’s extensive datasets in the service of our healthcare partners worldwide, with an unwavering commitment to improve patient safety and the efficiency of care,” said CTO Darryl Goss. “ECRI’s independent voice makes us stand out in the healthcare landscape and amplifies the power of our data and technology. I’m excited and proud to join a global organization leading the way in improving healthcare.”

As CTO, Goss will guide the technological transformation of ECRI’s externally facing products and services, to continue to improve the client experience. For ECRI’s information technology programming, Goss will direct internally facing business operations for the organization’s global and mostly remote workforce.

Previously, Goss served as Chief Executive Officer of Inform Diagnostics, a provider of anatomic pathology laboratory services; President of Sigma-Aldrich Fine Chemicals (SAFC) Hitech, a manufacturing division for pharmaceutical and tech organizations; and Vice President and General Manager of Europe and Asia Pacific for SAFC's life science services. As a healthcare consultant, he has been engaged by private equity firms to evaluate and improve company operations, lead strategic planning, and initiate technology investments.
