We are not a contract testing lab. In fact, we operate under some of the most stringent conflict-of-interest (COI) rules in healthcare. We accept no gifts, advertising, finders’ fees, or consulting projects from medical device or pharmaceutical firms. These unconventional approaches make us who we are—respected and trusted as the independent source of truth.
We do, however, believe manufacturers can learn how to make safer more reliable devices by reviewing and speaking with our biomedical engineers and scientists. At ECRI, we are 100% transparent about our approach to patient safety and effectiveness. That’s why we encourage manufacturers to review our comprehensive evidence-based research, our market trend data, and the assessments that are derived from our medical device testing protocols.
