Using two patient identifiers to confirm patient identity and labeling all medications before a procedure (including those in syringes, cups, and basins) are among Joint Commission's 2017 National Patient Safety Goals (NPSGs) for ambulatory care. Many of the goals are unchanged from goals set by the Joint Commission in previous years.
