CMS Posts EHR Incentive Program Quality Measures for 2014, Physician Fee Schedule for 2013

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has posted the 2014 clinical quality measures and specifications that electronic health record (EHR) systems must meet to qualify for participation in the Medicare and Medicaid Electronic Health Record Incentive Programs. According to CMS, the reporting of clinical quality measures will change for all providers in 2014. Eligible professionals, eligible hospitals, and critical access hospitals will be required to report using the new 2014 criteria regardless of whether they are participating in stage 1 or stage 2 of the incentive programs. Although clinical quality measure reporting has been removed as a core objective for eligible professionals, eligible hospitals, and critical access hospitals, all providers are required to report on clinical quality measures in order to demonstrate meaningful use.
