Gaffey, RN, MSN, CPHRM, DFASHRM, senior vice president, Sedgwick, asked at the top of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management (ASHRM) 2015 presentation, "Hidden Treasures in Physician Offices: Findings of the Hunt Revealed!" She and copresenter Julie Radford, JD, CPHRM, risk manager with the Inova Health System, provided insights during ASHRM's annual conference into some of the areas that receive focused attention during a risk assessment of a physician practice. For example, Radford suggested reviewing the waiting room of the practice—can the receptionist see the entire room? The door? Are there any hidden areas around the practice?
