The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office of Inspector General (OIG) found that over 1,700 providers had "concerning billing" that may indicate fraud, waste, or abuse of telehealth services during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a September 2022 OIG report.
