Healthcare Worker Injuries Point to Need for Greater OSHA Oversight, Says Advocacy Group

Citing data from the U.S. Department of Labor that finds healthcare workers suffer more injuries and illnesses on the job every year than workers from any other U.S. industry, a nonprofit, public advocacy group is calling upon the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to increase its inspections of healthcare facilities. In a July 17, 2013, report, Health Care Workers Unprotected: Insufficient Inspections and Standards Leave Safety Risks Unaddressed, the advocacy group Public Citizen says that OSHA conducts an inadequate number of inspections of healthcare facilities to address safety risks to healthcare employees.
