July 9, 2018 | Strategic Insights for Ambulatory Care
Social media is a valuable tool in promoting the advancement of women physicians, according to a June 14, 2018, article in The New England Journal of Medicine, and physicians of all ages are embracing platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. One Facebook group called Physician Moms Group boasts 71,000 members, and a survey on social media showed 93.5% of medical students and about 40% of physicians use social media. Their use increases connectedness between women physicians of all ages, and creates opportunities for mentorship and communication that are otherwise lacking in many women's careers, according to the article.
