​Healthcare personnel should immediately stop using Alere INRatio2 PT/INR Professional Test Strips and use an alternative method to perform PT/INR testing, such as a plasma-based laboratory INR test, or another point-of-care monitoring system, states a May 7, 2014, safety alert from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The test is typically used to monitor blood clotting for patients on anticoagulation therapy. The Alere INRatio2 PT/INR Professional Test Strips are being recalled by their manufacturer due to concerns about their accuracy.
