Cybersecurity: Two New Interactive Training Programs

Two interactive, web-based games released on HealthIT.gov provide medical offices with practical advice on managing cybersecurity risks. Both games contain a wealth of information and resources on health information security, including asking users questions about how they would solve real-world problems to ensure cybersecurity. The first program, Contingency Planning, examines implementing a plan to manage situations that threaten the integrity of health information, such as power outages, fires, and other natural or man-made disasters. The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) security rule requires that all practices, regardless of their size, have a formal contingency plan to prepare for and respond to emergencies and other events that could damage health information technology systems.
