CDC Releases Online Training Series to Encourage Safe Opioid Prescribing for Chronic Pain
May 1, 2017 | Physician Practice News
A new online training series from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) can help clinicians apply CDC's Guidelines for Prescribing Opioids for Chronic Pain. More than 40 people die from overdoses related to prescribed opioids each day, CDC said. The goal of the guidelines is to encourage safer and more effective prescribing of pain medicine for adults. The training series will include videos, interactive scenarios, tips, and resources on the risks and benefits of prescription opioids, nonopioid alternatives, and strategies for patient communication and risk mitigation.
