OCR Releases Crosswalk to Help Address Cybersecurity Gaps

Healthcare organizations are becoming an increasingly attractive target for cyberattacks, so the Department of Health and Human Services' Office for Civil Rights (OCR) released a crosswalk that identifies "mappings" between the National Institute of Standards and Technology's (NIST) Cybersecurity Framework for Improving Critical Infrastructure and Cybersecurity and the HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) Security Rule. NIST released its Cybersecurity Framework in 2014 to help organizations in any industry better understand, communicate, and manage cyber risk.
