The personal information of up to 80 million individuals was compromised in a recent information technology (IT) security breach at U.S. health insurer Anthem Inc., states a February 5, 2015, Insurance Journal article. According to the article, the insurer, which has nearly 40 million current customers, experienced an attack by hackers that resulted in the theft of customer and employee personal information, including names, birthdays, social security numbers, street addresses, e-mail addresses, employment information, and income data.
