AAP Publishes First Guidelines on Managing Pediatric Type 2 Diabetes

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) has issued the first guidelines to help physicians care for a growing population of children between the ages of 10 and 18 who have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Over the past 30 years, the rising incidence of childhood obesity has led to an increasing number of children being diagnosed with diseases like type 2 diabetes that have predominately affected adults, states a January 28, 2013, AAP press release.
