ONC Seeking Comments on Strategy to Reduce EHR Burden

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) is seeking comments on a new draft strategy aimed at reducing regulatory burdens associated with health information technology. The guidance, Strategy on Reducing Regulatory and Administrative Burden Relating to the Use of Health IT and EHRS, outlines three goals designed to reduce clinician burden: reduce the effort and time required to record information in the EHR; reduce the effort and time required to meet regulatory reporting requirements; and improve the functionality and usability of the EHR.
