OIG Work Plan for FY 2017 Focuses on Improving Oversight; Reducing Fraud, Waste, and Abuse

​New initiatives in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' (HHS) Office of Inspector General's (OIG) annual work plan for fiscal year (FY) 2017 include 24 planned investigations regarding Medicare Parts A and B, many of which affect long-term care settings, such as additional oversight for skilled nursing. OIG also revised five activities or investigations and removed another five related to Medicare Parts A and B from the last time it was updated, in April 2016 (see the June 15, 2016, HRC Alerts).
