First Year of CMS Primary Care Shared Savings Program Yields Improved Quality, Decreased Cost

​More than 90% of the primary care practices participating in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services' (CMS) Comprehensive Primary Care program achieved their quality goals for patient experience and utilization measures, according to an October 7, 2015, CMS blog post. Meeting the patient experience goal, as measured by Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems survey responses, and the utilization goal, measured by hospital admissions, indicates that the overall quality scores "matched or exceeded national comparisons," according to CMS.
