The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is still not reporting all adverse actions taken against certain types of providers to the Healthcare Integrity and Protection Data Bank (HIPDB), concludes a September 12, 2012, report from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Inspector General (OIG). In a previous report issued by OIG in 2010, the agency found that CMS took actions against providers but did not report all of the actions to the HIPDB. Specifically, none of the actions taken against suppliers of durable medical equipment (DME) in 2008 had been reported to the HIPDB as of April 30, 2009.
