New CDC Guide Can Help Guide Antibiotic Stewardship Programs

​A new guide from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) aims to raise awareness about the need for antibiotic stewardship by outlining programs and resources that can support providers and protect patients. Antibiotic Use in the United States, 2017: Progress and Opportunities has 36 pages of checklists, graphics, data, charts, and other resources gathered by CDC to support stewardship. Established risks of antibiotic use, the report says, include increased risk of infection, allergic reaction, harmful drug interactions, and increased antibiotic resistance.
