A Maryland health system has agreed to pay $190 million to settle allegations that one of its gynecologists used secret cameras to take pictures and record videos of the sexual anatomy of thousands of women and girls, states a July 21, 2014, Modern Healthcare article. According to the article, the health system became aware of his activities when a female coworker alerted authorities about a pen-like camera he wore around his neck. After a federal investigation led to the discovery of roughly 1,200 videos and 140 images stored on computers in his home, the doctor was fired, but he later committed suicide before his motives could be questioned and criminal charges could be brought against him.
