NAQC Posts Guiding Principles for Patient Engagement

There must be a dynamic partnership among patients, their families, and the providers of their healthcare, which at the same time respects the boundaries of privacy, competent decision making, and ethical behavior, states a list of guiding principles for patient engagement recently posted on the Nursing Alliance for Quality Care’s (NAQC) website. According to NAQC, patient engagement is a critical cornerstone of patient safety and quality. The organization believes that to provide patient-centered care, healthcare organizations must recognize the importance of relationships between engaged patients and families and their care providers.
