CMS Extends Joint Commission’s Medicare Deeming Authority through 2020

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has extended the Joint Commission's hospital deeming authority through July 15, 2020, according to a June 27, 2014, Federal Register notice. Hospitals accredited by agencies with deeming authority such as the Joint Commission are considered to meet Medicare standards and be eligible to participate in the federal program.
